The Type of Conflict

So far in the story, the characters have been struggling to get to their destination, the Lonely Mountain. The main conflict of the story is Man vs. Nature, since they will eventually have to fight the dragon, Smaug, to get their mountain back, it would probably be Man vs. Man if you count trolls and goblins as man. They've been attacked twice so far, the last one where they've been set back by afar since the goblins pretty much took everything they had. It could also be said that it could be Man vs. Nature so far, since it seems like Mother Nature hasn't been co-operating that well so far. I don't think that the characters will solve the conflict without causing more harm. Their journey has just began and they're already lost all their supplies. I'm pretty sure that they'll loose a lot more further on into the book, all for a lonely mountain.
