(MichaelG) - Bilbo Baggins, what I think.

Unlike many adventure novels where the main character can't think about anything but adventure Bilbo Baggins is unique in that regard.  It's plain to see that he is not one to slay beasts or rescue princesses as he wishes he could go home throughout the story.  While some of our members might label him a coward I disagree because he isn't scared by heart it's just his species isn't strong like a dwarf or swift like an elf making him relatable for those of us who can't slay dragons.  Mr. Baggins is a odd fellow to some but I agree with his views that he isn't adventures like many other characters but that makes his actions speak louder when he saves his friends.

Overall, I like Bilbo Baggins's character as a whole with his flaws add life to him and his traits are relatable it makes him all the more special in my opinion.  How many books have we read we're the main character seems to bear no connection to home and in fact is happy without without family of some sort, it makes for a boring character.  All of these things make Bilbo Baggins a truly unique and special character.

  1. I have to agree with you on your first sentence because he is always dreading going on the adventure in the book and is constantly thinking about his hobbit hole.
