Main Character: Bilbo Baggins

What I have learned about Bilbo Baggins' habits, likes, and dislikes.

What I have learned about Bilbo Baggins is that he immensely enjoys the comforts of his hobbit hole and dislikes any dangerous activities. However, he goes against everything he ever thought about doing dangerous things and going on adventures when he embarks on one himself with the company of 13 dwarves and a wizard. His quest, help the dwarves win back the lonely mountain and their riches from the dragon Smaug. However often on his adventures in times of danger or discomfort he thinks longingly of his hearth and home. He tends to be soft spoken and polite but he can still express his opinions when he wants to.

How Bilbo's actions tell us about who he is?
At the very beginning of the story Bilbo's action make it perfectly clear that he wants nothing to do with danger or adventure and would much rather live out his life in the soft comforts of his hobbit hole. However, when Gandalf and the dwarves show up at his house he does something completely out of the ordinary and goes with them. He regretfully encounters several new dangers such as trolls, goblins, and the harsh elements he had never before encountered in over hill. But he also makes new friendships with the 13 dwarves.
