He is a Hobbit that lives in a Hill and he has a very nice house as far as I can tell. Bilbo loves to eat food so he is a little plump in the middle. He doesn't like new people that much, He has to get to know them first. Even though the guest Dwarfs that came into his house weren't invited he was nice to them and acted like a good and well house host. So that makes him a good person. He is sort of a snob on the inside but he never shows it in fear of being rude to his uninvited house guests.
Bilbo is a simple creature that likes routine. He loves to eat food, he actually has a gigantic cellar all for food. Bilbo is so simple people would know exactly what he was going to say before he said it.
I like Bilbo thought because he has this sort of way he deals with stuff in situations that makes you want to see the crazy side of him and learn more about him.
I agree with you that he is a great house guest. Even though 14 dwarves came into his house uninvited(and Gandalf) he still served them. I also agree with your last sentence because when he meets the goblins in the forest we find out he's a thief of sorts.
